Camilla Vest: Objects Of

Tell us a little about yourself and your brand/work:  I'm originally from Copenhagen, Denmark and moved to New York in 1995 to start an International modeling career. I have always enjoyed collecting beautiful objects on my endless modeling trips and decided to start my own agency OBJECTS two years ago. We represent a carefully curated collection of Nordic furniture brands in our Brooklyn based showroom.  Online at: www.Objects.nyc  Where are you based: Brooklyn, New York.  How did you get your start in your industry? Have you always been in your profession?: I started modelling when I was 16 and moved to New York in 1995. Through traveling the world I have always been very inspired by my surroundings and design in general. Also being Danish, I think its natural to have a passion for design classics and I've actually been...

Yi-Mei Truxes: Bembien

Tell us a little about yourself and your brand/work:I am the owner and founder of Bembien, an accessories line based in Brooklyn, New York. The brand was originally inspired by a woman I saw while walking to work at Vogue Magazine—she had an effortless elegance about her (very 1970s coastal France), and she was carrying the chicest, most disheveled straw bag. It launched me onto a hunt to find something similar, and I quickly realized that you can’t find quality woven goods from mainstream retailers, but that they best come from small weaving villages around the world. Jina Kim: Circumference

Tell us a little about yourself and your brand/work: My name is Jina and I’m the founder and CEO of Circumference, an ethical and sustainable beauty brand that’s founded on a belief that personal beauty should never come at the ugly cost of our health and the health of our environment. After helping launch a sustainable fashion line many years ago, I decided to shift my focus toward another industry that I felt was largely neglected from the conversations around sustainability — beauty. And after 2 years of research and development, I launched Circumference in 2018 with a mission to implement new and innovative sustainable practices in the beauty industry. We believe the only way to create truly quality skincare is...

"IN TEES" Colleen Herman, Artist and Designer

These stories continue to evolve for me as the Creative Director of this brand. I love to see our tees land in a new home with their new owner and to see where their new life takes them. To see how they are interpreted and woven into a new story with an entirely different creative director is the definition of #1920everyday. I was lucky enough to sit down with the lovely and talented Colleen Herman (and photographer Kiki Conway) at her studio in Tribeca to talk all things Colleen, art and tees (of course). Colleen Herman is one of those people that is a ray of light, an extremely talented ray of light to be exact. Not only is she...

"IN TEES" Jamie Haller, Creative Director NSF and Icons Los Angeles

Jamie Haller is one of those extremely special people + she happens to be one of my dearest friends and influencers throughout the years. It seemed only natural we pair 1 9 2 0 x NSF/ ICONS for an interview and little editorial. Jamie and I began our friendship 15+ years ago in Los Angles when we were young designers; she designing refined suiting and myself fully fashioned knitwear. We were drawn to each other through our great love of all things design, but mostly because we thought we were extremely funny and we somehow got each other on every level.  We have grown so much in that time from young designers to full on businesswomen and that is something...
